My Adventures of Getting Healthy!

Hello sweet blogging buddies! I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend and a super fab Monday. Coach and I had a great weekend full of The Hunger Games, and spring cleaning!

I know many of you have just about gotten sick of me Facebooking about AdvoCare. However, this is not me asking you to buy, or me being paid by someone to sell a product. I have not (I wish) been asked to share anything with anyone. This is my choice! I would like to update you on my overall success with losing weight, and making a lifestyle change.

Here is my story:

I got married last May. I felt that I was in great shape. (I ran a half marathon the week before.) I stepped on the scale the day before my wedding and I weighed 171. I felt good, and I was happy with my number.

Then, I went on a honeymoon. Then I went to the beach. Then I got a Kitchen Aid mixer. Then I taught myself how to make a cheesecake. Then I ate cheesecake daily. Then I moved to Augusta. Then I realized it was TOO HOTT during the summer to run. Then I topped the scale at the HEAVIEST I have ever been. Meanwhile, I was constantly working on school stuff, and going through the hardest semester of college EVER. I was not doing well at all.

New Years came and I decided that I was going to get back into running, and give up my love for soda. I always heard of folks dropping Pepsi and dropping 20 lbs. Yeah, not me. I ran daily, and had 0 sodas. No weight loss. BOOOO. Sure, I felt better. However, when the scale doesn't move there really isn't any motivation to run.

Then I started listening to all of the great stuff my super healthy friend Danielle was saying about AdvoCare. So, I googled it. Then I "Pinterested" it. I decided to give it a try. Last Monday BC and I decided to clean out the cupboards, clean out the fridge, and get some vitamins in our bodies. We measured ourselves, and weighed ourselves. We wrote everything down in a journal. I am about to share my details.

Last Monday, March 19, 2012 I weighed 180 lbs.
Please focus on me. I know my cousin is BEAUTIFUL and so is my nephew... however, this is my blog. Plus, she has a boyfriend! :) Plus, this picture was taken on March 5, 2012.

I have spent a full 7 days taking the AdvoCare vitamins, drinking Spark rather than coffee, and eating clean.

Here is what I have for breakfast.
The Green Monster. AKA Spinach Smoothie. SOOO GOOD!

Here is what I have for lunch.
I never use bags. I left my lunchbox at school. :(  But, it is a PB sandwich, grapes, grape tomatoes, 2 hard boiled eggs, and Greek yogurt. LOVE IT ALL!

I go to spin class at 5am. I teach ALL day. (22 little 4 year olds.) Then I come home and run. I average about 3-6 miles each day. Then, BC and I help each other cook dinner.
This was dinner for 2. I love grilled chicken, grilled corn, and grilled squash! :)

After we eat, we both go for a 2 mile walk.

I drink about 1.5 gallons of water a day.

I have one glass of Spark.  (For energy, and my caffeine fix.)

I have a glass of chocolate milk after I run. (Sweet tooth fix.)

I weighed in today.

Here I am....

Down to 170.5. I have also lost 2 inches off of my stomach.

No lie.

Totally serious!
There is actually a funny story about these pants. I bought them on my birthday last year. I wore them until about May. Then I put them on in August, I couldn't button them. :(

Today I wore them with pride. Next time I wear them, I'll wear them with a belt!

I have told LOTS of my friends about this great stuff! I am the proof! I cannot wait to update my blog next week with more of  my results. I have never felt so great. I have TONS of energy. I love the changes that my body is making. I am seriously addicted to changing my body. If you were thinking about trying a product to jump start your plan to lose weight: here it is!  HOWEVER, I would not consider it if you are not looking to make a lifestyle change. If I can do it, you can! I swear, nobody loves cheesecake like this kid!

Just Another Thankful Thursday!

I have way too much to be thankful for this week! Here are just a few!

I am VERY thankful for...

...our wonderful God. I have learned over the past several years to "leave it at the cross." I am very thankful for the many things that I am able to leave at the cross.

...BC's ability to be responsible and manage to ALWAYS have his ipod charged. I am the WORST! My ipod is constantly dead. Do you think I am charging it right now? ugh.. no. Plus, today my phone was dead. No ipod, and no phone. Thanks BC for being such a responsible kid.

...The "Road Games" playlist that is on BC's ipod. Ha! Him and his 'frat daddy' friends have this play list that they listen to when they follow Ga on the road... cracks me up. I must admit I was doing some shoulder leanin' on my run this evening! :)

...Gary Allen's song "The One." All I am going to say is that I am pretty durn happy BC knew he was the one... :)

...This supa fly Wally World purchase I made today... $5! It is for sure my new fave shirt! I believe it will be making the Cooper River Bridge Run with me this year!
Does it make me look like a tennis ball?!

...Speaking of CRBR... Spring Break is 6 school days away! I will be REALLY thankful for this NEXT THURSDAY! PUMPED!

...These wonderful shoes that make my feet smile....

...BodyGlide. Good Gosh. What did I ever do without this little miracle? Oh yeah! I would cry in the shower and avoid getting sweaty! Thanks, Danielle!!!
still sweaty! ha! Plus, look at those pre-k hands! (I made some posters today!)

...My super wonderful friend Shannon that always makes sure I have a cute holiday shirt to wear to Pre-K. She gets me.

...That folks in Telfair are just as anxious for us to move down there as we are!

...That on my evening walk with Coach, I came up with my summer shirt logo: "If you want different results....Do something different."

...wireless Internet...

...ADVOCARE! Talk about life changing. I love this product! Do you know what it is? No!? Email me... I'll hook you up and change your life too! I have had 0 soda in almost 4 months and a week without coffee! LOVE SPARK! ...Again, thanks Danielle! :)

...my super wonderful mentor teacher, whom I love dearly.

...beautiful weather so we can grill out!

...and FINALLY, this weekend is HUNGER GAMES. Gah... my life is just so complete now that this amazing book has a movie.

What are you thankful for?

Cooking For a Coach

You like this title? BC said I should change the blog name to this... I suppose I would have to post more about food!?!

Anyway, tonight I made some WONDERFUL stuffed portobello mushrooms... BC LOVED them. He said they were "blog worthy."

I got this from HERE.

What'cha Need:

4 portobello muchrooms (destemed, degilled, and washed.)
2 handfuls of fresh, cut up spinach (the original recipe called for an 8oz packet. Ehhh... I don't keep frozen spinach on hand. However, I do have LOADS of fresh. So, either will work.)
1/2 cup of feta cheese
1/2 cup of cream cheese
1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese
1 dash of salt
1 pinch of pepper
1 splash of garlic powder
1 handful of mozzarella cheese
They should look like this....

What'ch Do

Mix all the ingredients into a bowl.
Spoon the mixture into the mushroom caps.
Sprinkle with the mozzarella.
Bake in oven (on a cookie sheet) for 20 minutes at 420 degrees.
Enjoy!

The next time I make these I will mix in some crab meet.
Let me know if you make these.

Weekend Update...

The sweet little Cain Family

I hope that everyone had a GREAT weekend! I did! Friday I cut all of my hair off! 7.5 inches. No big deal. I love love love it. It is super easy to style. Yes, I can style my hair now. The great lady that cut my hair  kept asking, "Are you sure?" I would just respond, "It is just hair. It can grow back." I don't think I am really attached to my hair. I am more attached to my sleep, and I am so happy that I can easily style it and still be super trendy all at the same time; unlike my usual "scrunch" and "ponytail." Who knows, I may not cut it for 2 years now. I am known to do such things.

Saturday BC and I made a trip to our soon to be home, McRae. I love it! This weekend was the "Peaches to Beaches" yard sale. I had never heard of such, but, this is more than 200 miles of yard sales stretching from Ga to Fl. We did not stop at any. Ole BC was in the driver's seat. :( But... we found a house!

This will be our 2nd house we have lived in, and the 2nd house we have seen when searching. We have been super lucky to find a house on the first try both times. Now I am counting down the days until June 1st. This is our official move in date. Super exciting!!! We decided to rent again, because of the life of a coach. However, we are starting to save for our ocean front property. :) This is a deal we made when deciding to buy or rent. No matter where football takes us, we will always visit the beach. (Great advice given from another coach.) More on this decision in the future.

As for today, I live for days such as these. We slept in, and then drank coffee and ate breakfast together while watching Animal Planet. Then we decided to go to Academy where I purchased my new Braves shirt. Very excited about this!! Then we went to Lowes to look at a stove and new refrigerator. We will be making this purchase next month. I have also been promised a glasstop. I am pumped. Then, we visited Publix. Ahhhhh... if Publix and Target ever decided to merge, I would be in TROUBLE! I love Publix. Anyway, we stocked up on 3 weeks of groceries. I know... I know... who does this? US! We seriously look like we have 5 kids by the way we grocery shop. It is just how I like to do things. Then we came home and played outside with the baby Dub. Today was a BEAUTIFUL day. Makes me LOVE spring. BC decided to grill some steaks and veggies. I decided to make some stuffed mushrooms... Oh... you want the recipe? See the next post! Hahaha... (They are super yummy!)

Thankful Thursday!

Man oh man do I have SOOOO much to be thankful for today!!!

First, I just want to say I am so thankful for my amazing friends and family that made this birthday super special. Oh, and my husband that makes every.single.day of my life special.

But... as for my 24th Birthday... Here is what I did:

Friday night we made the drive to God's Country aka: Jefferson, Ga. We met some great friends and family there for dinner. We ate at my (BC's) fave, El Cent. Love. It. We enjoyed catching up with:

Blake, Julie, and Lauren.
Penny and Dennis.
BJ, Seth, AJ, and Callie.
Carrie and Kyle.
Nathan, Brittany, and Luke.

Oh... sweet Luke. I was trying to get his first sentence to be, "BC, I want a friend!" This was me trying to convenience BC that we are "baby ready." For the record, we are NOT. However, if I could be PROMISED that my babies will be as sweet as Lucas Johnson; sign me up! For ten! :)

We had to leave diner and go sit at the Cain House in the hallway. Yeah, the weather was pretty bad. However, with God's comfort, we were all safe. I actually slept like a baby, no thanks to Arcade's tornado sirens.

Saturday AM I went to visit the lovely ladies at Tradition's Nails. Let me tell you.... this is the ONLY nail salon I love. L.O.V.E.

Then I went and picked up the sweetest lil sister ever. She was ready to go in her pink glitter Toms. :) We headed to the mall to meet my aunt, Bethany, and Cam. We went to Buford to enjoy a great day of shopping and each other's company. This was the first time I got to experience Charming Charlie. OMG! Seriously I love this place! If you are not familiar with it, it is a store of nothing but accessories. It was so amazing. I learned that this should be your last stop at the mall. You should pick up some new outfits first, then try to find jewelry! It was so amazing! I also picked up some new Bare Minerals makeup. I will NEVER buy any other makeup. I have been using my "new face" for a week now, and my skin feels so much better! I'm sold!

After this busy afternoon the family went to Athens to Inoko's. It was my bro-in-law's 18th birthday. More celebration and more food! Here we were joined by Aunt Diane, Mama Bette, Blake, Julie, Lauren, Rylie, Penny, and Dennis. It was soooo good. But, have you ever had Japanese and it not be good? After dinner we went back to the Cain House to enjoy cake. I had a white chocolate cake and Blair had a double doozie. YIKES! SOOOO good!

One of my amazing birthday presents! TOMS!

Sunday we got to enjoy the most amazing church ever. Southside is my home! I love Jeff, I love the band, I love the Word, I love it all. I love how when I walk out I feel "clean." So amazing. I am also so blessed to have an amazing friend and her son start to fall as madly in love with it as I am. Blessed I tell ya!

Sunday afternoon we came home because we knew we had a busy week ahead. However, my birthday weekend was nothing short of spectacular.

Now, let me tell you about my week:

This was my L>A>S>T> week as a full time student teacher. I begin handing things back to the regular teacher because we only have ohhhhh 22 more days!!! GRADUATION! So this week was so amazingly busy! Observations...observations... observations....

Now for the BIG NEWS:

Today my wonderful husband OFFICIALLY accepted the job as a high school special education teacher. He will be coaching football as well. THIS IS SO HUGE! Coach had to take a year off from coaching so that we could live together our first year of marriage. Yeah, this summer we thought we would live apart for the 2011-2012 school year. God gave him the opportunity to work in Grovetown, but not coach. He is such a wonderful husband that he took it.

Now God has placed us in a new location. We will be living in Telfair, Ga. It is located in the southern part of Ga. I am very, VERY, very excited. It is a little over 3 hours from 'home' but we feel it is where God wants us to go. Saturday we are taking a trip to look at a house.... we waste 0 time.
Here is my look on things... Look how close we are to the BEACH!!! :) I bet more friends visit us!

So... there you have it. On this Thankful Thursday I am thanful for:
...God's plan for Coach and I.
...My family and firends and another great birthday.
... Safety through harsh weather.
...A wonderful church that I adore.
...Graduation being so close I can feel it.
... A great friend falling in love with Southside
...McDuffie County's day off tomorrow!!! :)

Love love,

The Real Life Coach's Wife Life

In 2011 blogging was a bit of a lengthy status update for social media. Coach and I moved away from "home" and it was just a fun ...
