Tuesday Tidbits

Happy Tuesday that feels like Monday! All day today I kept thinking it was Monday! I was on such a blogging roll, and have such sweet readers that send me messages and texts about how they love reading that I decided to take a quick moment to say hello.

So much is going on this week. I have Pre-K, XC practice, being Dub's mama, and being a wife. No way am I complaining... I have NO idea how folks add kids to the mix! Ahhhh.....

I wanted to share our 2012 Family Photo. :)

Tonight we are having homemade pizza. I am pretty excited because I know what is going on and in the pizza. I am also excited because Coach gets to actually eat something right out of the oven. He had practice after school today! (Which is another reason I have to HURRY with this post... I don't have my three hours to myself tonight.)

Friday night we have another game and I am also pumped about it because today EVERY.SINGLE.PERSON I passed was so supportive and happy about our new and improved football team! I love it! I hope we can add another victory to our belts. ***Speaking of Coach and football. I need to clear ONE minor fact up. When you are on the line... you block. You do NOT tackle. If you do, it'll be a penalty. If you would like, I can show you the motion that the official will do if you get this penalty. SHHHHHEEEESHHHHH. In yesterday's post I called a pancake "hardcore tackling." No. That was so very incorrect of me. I was quickly asked to change it, and also given a lesson on the correct terminology. I now stand corrected. (Write that down Coach, I will never give you the satisfaction again.)

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

What are your plans for the week???

Happy Football Season!

Why We Do What We Do

I am a huge believer that God has a plan for all of us. I feel that we all have a special "calling" and when you know what yours is, you do it to the best of your ability. Each day I praise God for creating a husband for me that shares the same passion as I do. Coach and I know that our calling is working with the youth in our community. When we knew that we were going to move from the Augusta area, we began to pray for God to send us to the location that He wanted us to be in. It really isn't the easiest thing to do. I can remember thinking, "Move nearly 4 hours away from my family?" Well, now that we are here, I know it is the best place we could ever be.

When I was asked to start a middle school cross country team, I was not a bit hesitant. I knew that running is a passion of mine, and I also knew that teaching young adults about running and a healthy lifestyle would also benefit the young generation. Well, it was easier said than done. Our team consists of 25 runners, a mix of female and male athletes. We have never had a team, so I am responsible for scheduling, buses, uniforms, and finding a trial to run on. Ahhhhhh..... so much to do and so little time!

This weekend was our first real meet. After being out late due to the game, (at 1:45am, I remember telling Coach we had to go to sleep!) we got up at 5:30 and got ready to meet my team at the school to drive to Cochran. Coach was "Husband of the Year" and drove our bus for us. This is just one perk of having a football coach for a husband... free transportation. I may or may not of had to remind him of all the yummy dinners I have cooked him, and all the support and love I give him from the 50 yard line every Friday night. But, he may or may not have been so upset because UGA kicked off at 12:21 that afternoon. (For those concerned, he made it home in time to watch every play!)

There were 15 other middle school teams. I was so nervous! I probably said, "Just do your best, and run hard! Finishing is winning!" about 3094739 times.  The boys ran first, and I actually teared up when the first group turned the corner of the last leg of the race. Luckily, I had my shades on to hide my softy side... Two of the guys won medals! I was so happy! There were 85 male runners. Then the ladies took off. I was praying the entire time they ran! I had one finish 2nd, and three others medal! I was PUMPED! They rocked it! The guys came in 4th overall, just 17 points behind the 3rd place, and the ladies came in 3rd overall! We now have a trophy to add to the case. Not too bad for 2 weeks of practice, and our first ever team! I couldn't stop smiling all weekend! I called and sent a text to everyone I knew! I have also been enjoying the sight of the trophy as it sits in the kitchen until Tuesday when I take it to the school.

The kids were so excited! I loved that they all were a team, and were rewarded for their hard work. I mean... how many of you would run 3+ miles every single day at 4:00pm in the south Ga heat?

Two weeks ago, Mr. Coach told the linemen that they would be rewarded for their hard work in the game. He decided to have a pancake breakfast on Sundays after the Friday night game for those that had a good game and showed heart all week at practice. This turned out to be a great time of fellowship for the kids. Anyone that wanted a good breakfast was welcome to join.  I cooked 90 pancakes for breakfast and had a car full on the way to church. Mission accomplished!

My job was to stay in the kitchen and flip away, but I did get to hear some great conversations. The guys love the coaching staff, they feel loved by them. They trust them to guide them in the right direction, they are eager to learn from them, and they respect them more than they have ever in the past. They are also stronger than they have ever been. Some kids are "pushing sick weight." Coach even gave out grades, and they were pretty impressive. They were actually the best that I have ever heard from one game!

Two kids caught a ride to church with us, and when we got there, the linemen actually took up the first two rows in the church!

So... These are the very reasons why we do what we do....

Parent Weekend in the South!

I hope everyone is enjoying this lovely, sunny Labor Day! This lovely holiday may just be one of my new faves! It could not have come at a better time, I was beginning to feel a little exhausted thanks to the 22 lil babies in room PK5! I am sorry for the blog delay! I have so much to catch everyone up on. August was very busy, and truly a month to praise God for! I got a job, football is in full swing, and I was asked to START a middle school cross country team. TC has never had a XC team before, so this turned out to be hard work, but very rewarding! So, with all that being said, we have been running around like two crazy folks. We are also now known as, "Mr. Coach Cain and Mrs. Coach Cain."
Please excuse the hair and shine... Thanks, humidity and unbearable heat!

 I wouldn't change a single thing!

This past Friday was our first home football game. Penny and D decided to come down to see their baby kick off the season. I love P & D so I was just as excited as Coach was. They came down late Thursday evening, and left after the game Friday night. Here is proof that they were here.....
Swiss Rolls in the freezer!!! :) Proof that Dennis was in our house! I also found some Coke cans in the fridge...

Penny was also as concerned as I was about one of my ferns kicking the bucket, and me only having 2 hanging ferns... so she brought me another one plus this beautiful Monster Fern. I want to keep all 4 ferns through the winter. Any suggestions on how to do this?

My front porch is now happy again! (My friend Alexis will be just as happy to no longer have to hear about how upset I am about only having 2 ferns hanging!)

Penny also helped me rearrange my new collection. I have decided to collect "Southern" pieces. (My lovely Aunt Doni bought me the big green plate as a wedding shower gift. It was a funny story because she bought one at an auction, and she was bidding against me! She won it, but then bought me one too! I love things that have memories! So, I have decided to start collecting these things since Coach has all of his red and black obsessions  collections... )

Side note:
Growing up, my wonderful Mama always had the brightest colored kitchens. (It makes sense, my family has always spent the majority of our time at home in the kitchen!)  I think I got my taste from her. I love my green and yellow kitchen so much! Don't get me wrong... I love the red & black that can be found in ALL other rooms of my house, but the kitchen and dining room will NOT follow. So, with this being said, here is my amazing new burlap table runner that Penny had made for me....

I LOVE IT!

The game was a HUGE success! We won! Which is a good thing because we had 3 sets of parents visiting for the game. The HC called this weekend Parent Weekend!

Sorry for the poor quality pictures. Maybe Santa will see this, and bring me a new camera for Christmas!?

Another wonderful weekend spent with family. Now I can't wait for my family to come and visit!

Sunday Social

Hey Hey Hey!
I have three posts in the works, but this is just a quick one to get me started on this rainy Sunday evening. Coach is home munching on a salad and watching the race... so I thought this would be an easy post to get started on my blogging marathon. (Be ready for tomorrow, I have the day off, and plan on posting several catch up blogs!)

Anyway... this lovely Labor Day weekend can only mean 2 things:
1. Summer is ending and fall is around the corner. Yay! I was in Kroger today and was VERY tempted to purchase a cinnamon broom...
2. Pack up your white pants and shoes.... Yes! I faithfully follow this old school fashion rule!

I am linking up with Miss Ashley over at Baseball-Diamonds and Hairspray.

So long summer... this one is for you!

1. What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
Coach and I live a constant vacation! We both LOVE or jobs, so escaping them really isn't a huge desire, and we live alone with our dog. If we want a vacation from Dub, we just let him outside. I was thinking about this the other day. I love to travel and go places, but really... a nice vacation would be going to Jefferson and spending time with my family and friends. Cheesy, sure. But true. But this summer I loved going to Daytona and spending time Coach and with Blair. Funny, huh. However, this trip we got along and actually had fun spending time together. (Years in the past we were at each other's throats by day 2.) I also loved the quick weekend trip we took to Jefferson at the beginning of August. I loved the time I got to spend with my mama, and I loved seeing her new house.

2. What was your favorite outfit look of the summer/clothing item?

Easy. My Nike shorts and a t-shirt. I literally LIVED in them. I love them, and have way too many of them. However, I wear them all the time. No guilt here spending $28.00 on shorts.

3. What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?
Although I am so happy that we moved from Augusta, and I love our new house and community... I wish I could have taken a weekend trip to the big city. I miss my sweet friends, and I am happy they came to see me... but I would have loved to visited them, and hit up our fave book store, too! :(
4. What was your favorite song of the summer?
Umm....again, EASY! mmmmmmotorboatin'! I love Pontoon. Seriously. Love it. It makes me think of all the fun times by the pool and lake.

5. What was your favorite movie/tv show of the summer?

I have NEVER been hooked on a show during the summer. To be honest, Grey's Anatomy, and Young and the Restless are about the only 2 shows that I WILL.NOT.MISS. Well, one night this summer Coach was gone to a lil 7on7, and I decided to watch the first episode of Big Brother. Umm.. I am so hooked. I am actually watching that right now. I love it. I may or may not be guilty of staying up until 3 am on the weekends watching BB After Dark. ( I am team Danielle.)

For one (of the many) of our summer dates Coach and I went on we went to see Dark Knight Rises. (We always go to early shows, and if he is in a really good mood, he'll pay $7 for popcorn.)
This was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. (Well, except for Twilight, Hunger Games, and Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.)I cried, laughed, and was 100% into the action. Go see it if you haven't.

Goodbye, Summer 2012. You have been great!

The Real Life Coach's Wife Life

In 2011 blogging was a bit of a lengthy status update for social media. Coach and I moved away from "home" and it was just a fun ...
